3/27 Confined by Defeat

For those who feel defined by defeat, may we cling to the reality that Pastor Terry discusses in today's episode.

REFLECTION VERSE: The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. -Psalm 34:18 (ESV)

Sometimes in life we get confined by things that happen. We mentioned that we can become disappointed with circumstances, situations, or people. Also we can find ourselves ultimately not just becoming disappointed, but discouraged, like the situation is never going to change. And then if we're not careful, that discouragement can turn into defeat. We start to feel like there's no hope for us. We see ourselves really on the losing end.

But I'm going to make the case right here, right now, right in this moment today at Rise and Shine, that in Christ, there is only victory. In the end there is only victory. In His will for our life is victory. In the places of greatest defeat there is only victory. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” There is nothing too strong for the Lord. He is greater than anything, and He can help us through anything, and help us get past anything that would seek to define us in defeat. He's the God of life. He's the life giver. It's what we proclaim and what we believe.

Even now Lord, if there are areas where we have felt the sting of defeat, and part of us is wondering if we're just permanently losing, we ask that we would remember who we are in Christ. We're not just a beloved son and daughter. We’re a victorious son and daughter by faith, and we need to live up to what we've been given.

Your name reigns over our lives. Remind us that we've been called to win because we've been called to walk in your love. That makes us a winner, no matter what. I ask for your grace, and your blessing, and your freedom in Jesus name, amen.
