3/29 Confined by Uncertainty

Rise and Shine Cornerstone! When things become perplexing, remember to go back to these truths from today's episode.

REFLECTION VERSE:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
   declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isa 55:8-9 (NIV)

Sometimes in life we find ourselves in perplexing places where things are unclear, and that uncertainty can also begin to hinder us. I look at John and I remind myself of how he… how he just doubted what he was seeing and hearing about Jesus and how uncertain he was about who the Lord was! I mean, you feel you feel for him. Like he sends another delegation to just double-check that he didn't get it wrong.

I think in these places of uncertainty, we need to be very careful about letting those things start to wrap themselves around us. We find ourselves perplexed, and things aren't clear. It can get really hard. If we're not careful, we start to get wrapped up. In a sense we get tied up by devices of our own making. We start to envision things, or at least wonder about things—maybe God's goodness, God's faithfulness, whatever it may be—instead of taking the place of faith, we start to allow the questions to prevail.

The Lord wants to remind us to be confident in Him, to not be afraid of life. Life can't be controlled, but it doesn't have to be feared. God called us not to walk in a spirit of fear but in power and of love and of soundness of mind.

So let's not let the things that we can't control, control the temperature of our lives. Lord we entrust You with our life and we place our life in Your hands. Help us not to walk in fear, but in power, and love, and soundness of mind.
