4/4 Solitude & Sabbath
Ready to Rise and Shine? Today Pastor Terry helps us think about establishing a healthy rhythm of solitude.
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God. Exo 20:8-9
Good morning Cornerstone it’s time to rise and shine. You know Jesus talked about the need to have a rhythm. He talked about the value of Sabbath. He Himself kept the Sabbath, the one in seven, as a way of honoring the Father and honoring God and modeling in a way the healthy Christian life.
The value of Sabbath time and the value of having that space was that allows us to rest and replenish and to refocus. Solitude, or at least getting a bit more alone, is one of the key components of a healthy Sabbath. When we think about that, it allows us to clarify sort of our next steps and recharge our battery. The recharging of the battery is so important at a spiritual level. We need it! There's so many things pulling us away, draining it if you will. It just happens all throughout the week. We're constantly getting bombarded with stuff that just, again, just drains us of our spiritual life. That's why I getting to the Lord’s house is so important. That's why having daily time with the Lord is important, and that's why creating healthy rhythms and creating space for rest, re-creation, recreation, re-creation are so essential to the Christian way of living.
Lord I ask even now that we would make sure that we are properly recreating. That we are recreating our lives in healthy ways, not just ways that drain us even more. Help us to follow your principal and your path because in it is the way of life and it's so full of wisdom. Give us that wisdom as well. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
