Dear Cornerstone Family,
We are writing this heartfelt letter to let you know that our family will soon be transitioning out of the Bay Area.
As many of you know, 2020 has been a big year for our family. On June 29th, we welcomed our son, Josiah Luis Menjivar, into the family. The board graciously provided us with a leave so we could focus on our growing family and adjust to the change. After much thought and prayer, we decided that we would make a move with the guiding question, “What would most bless our family?” This thought is leading us to transition our family to Southern California, where we look forward to what the Lord has next for our family.
Earlier this year, my mother-in-law retired, and with the cost of living in SF, it became apparent that she would no longer be able to live in the Bay Area. As you may imagine, she is a large part of our ability to manage everything that we are juggling — especially under shelter-in-place. Thankfully, we were able to find a home that would allow for our expanding family to live under one roof.
Jean, as a nurse, has been able to secure her new job, and I am prayerfully considering what I might do next. While I continue to feel the calling of ministry, I’m also exploring some non-profit and mission-driven opportunities available down there. After we move and get settled, I will be exploring these avenues and would love your prayers.
This decision was not an easy one to make, to say the least. We deeply love and cherish our time with you all. You have been our extended family that we will always love. We are grateful that the Lord has provided us with so many deep friendships and relationships that we hope to continue to nurture.
Cornerstone will always have a special place in both of our lives. I (Luis) committed my life to Christ here, sensed the call of God here, met my wife here, and was fortunate enough to serve with the greatest ministry team in San Francisco — in my humble opinion. As San Francisco natives, we will always consider this city and community to be home. We both have received more than we can ever give back from our time with you. Many of you have seen us grow to become the adults, parents, friends, and people we are today. Thank you for all of your love, support, prayer, friendship, and care. You are truly a community that lives out its faith, and it will always be an honor to be associated with you.
If you would like to keep up with our family, feel free to add us on Instagram and/or Facebook. Though our plans are not completely fleshed out, we are excited for what’s to come and know there are many good days ahead for you as well.
In the love of Christ,
Luis and Jean Menjivar
